Akron Holding is reviving the legend of the cable industry.

2On October 26, production was launched in Pskov as part of the “Sevkabel” project. After the company went bankrupt in 2020, its technologies and production assets were moved from St. Petersburg to the site of the full‑cycle industrial diversified holding Akron Holding in Pskov.

The new chapter for Sevkabel was the grand opening of the production facility, which, with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, effectively marked the completion of Sevkabel’s relocation from St. Petersburg to Pskov. The first production line for cable products, using modernized equipment, began operating back in April 2022. Since then, construction and installation work has been carried out at the enterprise, new technologies have been mastered, and the product range has been expanded.

Today, the Pskov site produces, among other things, unique welding complexes for the nuclear industry. The immediate plans include launching the production of polymer materials for the cable industry.

According to the governor of the Pskov region, the total investment in the relocation of Sevkabel and the development of the project amounted to about 5 billion rubles. As a result of the project’s implementation, approximately 1,700 jobs were created.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Mikhail Ivanov noted that the cable industry is demonstrating steady growth. According to him, in 2023, the volume of domestic production exceeded 400 billion rubles, which is 21% more than in 2022. In the first eight months of 2024, the growth continues and amounts to about 20%; a similar trend is observed in the cable market as a whole.
